GAS LINE EXPERTS

Leave Gas Line Work to the Licensed Professionals

Many homeowners are surprised to learn that licensed plumbers are the professionals who install and repair natural gas lines — not electricians, not HVAC technicians, and certainly not handymen. Gas line work requires specialized training, proper state licensing, and deep knowledge of local building codes. It’s one of the most safety-critical jobs in residential plumbing, and it’s what our master plumbers are trained and licensed to do.

At Southside Plumbing, our team includes five master plumbers — the highest level of certification in the trade — each with years of hands-on experience running, connecting, and repairing natural gas lines throughout Highlands Ranch and the surrounding South Denver metro communities. Whether you’re hooking up a new gas range, running a line to your backyard fire pit, or dealing with a suspected leak, you can trust that our work is safe, up to code, and done right the first time.

Know the Signs of a Gas Leak

Natural gas is safe when properly installed and maintained, but leaks can be dangerous. Knowing what to do could protect your family.

If You Suspect a Gas Leak — Act Immediately

Leave your home right away. Do not turn on or off any lights, appliances, or electronics. Do not use your phone inside the home. Once you are safely outside, call Xcel Energy at 1-800-895-4999 (or your local gas utility company) and then call 911. Do not re-enter your home until the gas company has confirmed it is safe to do so.

Recognize the Signs

A rotten-egg or sulfur smell, a hissing sound near a gas line, or blowing dirt near an outdoor pipe.

Leave Immediately

Get everyone out of the house — including pets. Don’t flip any switches or use any electronics.

Call From Outside

Call Xcel Energy at 1-800-895-4999 or your local gas utility, then 911, from a safe distance.

Wait for the All-Clear

Do not go back inside until the gas company or fire department confirms it is safe.

Natural gas smells like rotten eggs or sulfur. Utility companies add a chemical called mercaptan to natural gas — which is naturally odorless — so you can detect leaks by smell. If you notice this odor, even faintly, leave your home immediately and call Xcel Energy at 1-800-895-4999 or your local gas company from a safe location.

Yes. We run gas lines to outdoor grills, fire pits, patio heaters, and other outdoor gas appliances. A permanent gas line means you’ll never run out of propane mid-cookout. Our plumbers ensure all outdoor gas work is up to code and properly pressure-tested before signing off.

Gas line installation costs vary depending on the length of the run, the complexity of the route, and the type of appliance being connected. We provide upfront pricing before starting any work — no surprises on your bill. We also offer financing for larger projects. Call us at 303-346-8426 for a free estimate.
